The “Fish House”Done properly, gutting and filleting of fish will ensure that your catches remain fresh beyond the journey home. Awashish Outdoor Adventures’ premises are equipped with a gutting house, called the “Fish House.” Enjoy the spectacle while our guides gut and fillet your catches. Once they have cleaned and prepared the fish, they will wrap the fillets in wax paper and freeze them, so you can enjoy fresh fish back home. |

Meals Cooked Cree Aboriginal StyleGuests who have chosen the American plan will get to savour typical Aboriginal meals. Jeannette and her team prepare tasty meals daily, which provide our guests with yet another opportunity to experience Mistissini Cree culture. Bannock, the traditional Aboriginal bread, is the main breakfast course. It is served with pancakes, French toast, omelettes, and fried eggs. Of course, this meal would not be complete without our freshly ground coffee and its delightful smell, which will accompany you from your canvas wall tent to the breakfast table. At dinnertime, let yourself be pleasantly surprised by our Head Chef, who will cook up a variety of meals, combining fresh fish and meat. Treat your taste buds to Jeannette’s delicious breaded walleye fillets and smoked sturgeon. Also, if the Awashish family has recently hunted a big game animal, such as a moose, you will assuredly be served some of its meat, prepared in the traditional Cree manner. In brief, your stay at the Awashish family outfitter will be a culinary awakening to remember, as you will have experienced authentic Cree cuisine at its best. |
